ABOUT INSTITUTION:

The Manipal Education Group is an established leader in the field of education, research and healthcare. In a span of over six decades, it has transformed lives of more than 3, 00,000 students from over 59 countries. The group includes five Universities - Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE, Karnataka), Sikkim Manipal University (Sikkim), American University of Antigua (Caribbean Islands), Manipal International University (Malaysia) and Manipal University Jaipur (Jaipur).

ABOUT ORGANIZERS:

Human Rights Cell was established by student of Manipal University during the academic year of 2019-2020. The cell aims to create awareness about human rights and help those who are in need. One of the most important priorities of the cell is help an individual lead a decent and dignified life without infringing the rights of others.

LawBharat is an online platform constructed to bring all aspects of law under one single root for brilliant legal minds. From aspiring lawyers to experienced advocates there is always an ever-growing need to learn and develop. LawBharat undoubtedly covers it all. It provides law students an opportunity to participate in in-house events like Seminars, Workshops, Moots, and promote external events as well. At the same time, it imparts a thorough knowledge of law through legal news, law awareness, newsletters, articles, blogs, and much more. The core team comprises of 8 members from different universities across the country. We aim to create a family of more than 1000 law students across the country to tackle basic problems that a legal researcher face in his/her day to day life.

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Human Rights Cell is organizing an event in collaboration with Law Bharat to celebrate Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's 150 years. The theme of the event is "Be the change that you wish to see in the world". It will be a 2 days event to be held on 2nd and 3rd October 2020 in which the following activities will be conducted:

Day 1

1.  Opening Ceremony

2.  Quiz Competition

3.  Discussion Forum

Day 2

1.  Poster Making

2.  Open Mic

3.  Result announcement and Valedictory

Separate registration for all the events is allowed. Certificates to all the participants.

Participants are invited from students, teachers, research scholars, legal professionals from all across the country.

EVENTS DESCRIPTION:

DAY 1

( 2nd October)

  1. Quiz

Platform:Kahoot

Time: 11AM - 12PM

Topic: Gandhi and Human Rights

No. of questions: 10 - 20

Only one submission per participant is allowed. No re - submission and time extension. In case of re - submission  the participant will be disqualified and no certificate will be given. Use of unfair means will also lead to disqualification and no certificate will be issued.

The link of Kahoot application will be sent to you before 24 hours of the competition. Results will be announced on 3rd October.

Certificate of Appreciation will be given to top 3 winner and participation certificate will be given to all.

Time: 3 PM  - 4 PM

Discussion will be done on the topic " Are Gandhi Perspective is Relevant in today’s world or Not ".

Every participant will get a fair chance to either speak in favour of the motion or against the motion. For counter questioning or argument 2 minutes will be given only on the discretion of the Moderator.

You will be judged on the following grounds:

  1. Research skills
  2. Speaking skills

Use of indecent or derogatory terms will lead to disqualification. Disqualified participants will not be given certificates.

The Certificate of Appreciation will be given to top 3 performers. Participation certificates will be given to all.

The theme for this competition is " Gandhi : A face of change".

Registration and submission for this competition is open till 30th September. All the submissions must be sent to hrc.manipal.jaipur@gmail.com

Organizers will have exclusive rights over the submissions made and the participants will not be allowed to submit their poster in any other platform until the results of the competition is declared.

Submission includes the following:

1.Name of the participant

2. Institute they are affiliated to

Appreciation certificate will be given to top 3 winners. Certificate of Participation will be given to every participant.

Title: India: Gandhian Perspective

Every kind of entry whether poem recitation, story narration, speech, stand up, phrases and verses etc. will be entertained. Every person will be allowed to speak for 5 - 7 minutes.

No indecent and derogatory comments are allowed. This behaviour will lead to disqualification. No certificate to those who get disqualified. No extra time will be given to any participant.

Certification of Participation will be given to everyone.

Time of the event: 3 - 4 PM

ELIGIBILITY

Law students (both undergraduate and postgraduate), management students, economics students and other undergraduate students from recognized schools and colleges, teachers, research scholars, legal professional and other those who are interestedare eligible to participate.

REGISTRATION:

Registration is free of cost. An individual can participate in as many events as they wish.

IMPORTANT DATES:

▪  Last date for ‘Registration’: 30th September

▪  Last date for ‘Submission’: 30th September

▪  Announcement of ‘Results’: 3rd October

PRIZES AND CERTIFICATES:

All the participants will be given an electronic participation certificate. Certificate of Appreciation will be given to winners.
